It's truly amazing we've reached the level of cybersecurity where China has hacked so many US telecom companies that the US government is now recommending the general public uses end-to-end encrypted messaging (something they spent the last 10+ years trying to ban "because terrorism").

My daughter (16) got her new 'locked down' laptop from her school today.

It took her 20 mins to work out that she could get VPN software on it via airdrop.

Can someone who thinks domain verification is insufficient to prove identity explain why? It’s one thing to police the identity of public personalities but there should continue to be a way for someone to verify an identity that doesn’t require providing ID to Bluesky.
