I didn't know my great-grandmother's first name until I saw it on her graduation thesis! It was terrible. She went by a shortened version of her middle name for good reason (a version of which was also my deadname).

My chosen last name is Hume in her honor (it was her married last name).
Baffled by transphobes insisting that the name on your birth certificate is Your True Name Forever when it was common in my grandparents' generation to just...pick a name you like and use that, nbd. I literally found out both of my grandma's birth certificate first names FROM THEIR OBITUARIES.

We watched the Combine and now we’re onto the main game. Important order because now I have investment in some of the draft picks.
I’m on the couch with a heating pad on my stomach watching The Puppy Bowl

It’s a really important annual event for cute sports

I've spent the whole month sick in one way or another, but I got this week's Adaptation Book Club up and the monthly paid Patreon post queued for later Saturday. (I take my victories where I can get them.)

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry in late elementary school
The Giver in middle school

I read and loved so many of them when I was a kid, though. Kinda wanna read them all now!

Four werewolf novels in one special edition! www.kickstarter.com/projects/smr...

When Rylie went to summer camp, she didn't expect to get bitten by a werewolf. She also didn't expect to fall in love--especially not with a werewolf hunter.

Another fun way to look at movies this #oscars season is via reading screenplays! This link has all of the screenplay nominees (except OBAA, which I don't think is online yet) and several more besides, both nominated for other awards and not. www.simplyscripts.com/oscar-screen...

Swap F1 in Best Picture for No Other Choice or It Was Just An Accident

Swap Kate Hudson or Emma Stone (probably the latter) in Best Actress for Chase Infiniti, Hailee Steinfeld, Amanda Seyfried or maybe even Jennifer Lawrence #oscars
If you’re gonna run around on the internet talking about Oscar snubs, you have to say who you’d swap out.

Those are the rules.

One of these years, I'll get it together enough to try more shorts when they're shortlisted for the #oscars. A lot more of them are online before official nominations drop.

Having said that, a lot of them are still available! I'm watching a few today and I'll link them as I go.

Oh hey, this is relevant again.

I have so many thoughts about the Globes. Like, the fact that it didn't exist for a couple years because the voting body was accepting bribes. Or the fact that it's serious enough that major stars show up, but not so serious that said stars won't get intoxicated.
Predicting award show wins is a silly game that I like to play, so just fyi: the Golden Globes are just one of the precursor awards to the Oscars, and usually not the best predictor of nominees/winners. Guild awards are better (because you get more Oscar voters in them).

One of my big highlights of 2025 was reading* the Murderbot Diaries. I was hoping I'd get the last of the released books from the library before the end of the year, and guess what just appeared from my holds!

(*well, listening to; I did the Kevin R. Free audiobooks and had a blast)
