there is something a little humiliating about being like "I am an author, did you invite me to appear at your book club?" knowing the answer is almost certainly "no" but....whatever

Yeah in every case I almost just sent the email to spam and then was like "well book clubs do exist in the world I should check" and then realized the book club in the email existed but the email was almost certainly not from its real organizer

I mean I didn't HAVE to but in 2 cases I wasn't 100% sure and didn't want to delete the invite without double checking, and in the other case I sort of felt morally obligated IDK. If someone was catfishing as me I would want to know even though the knowledge would stress me out w/o benefitting me

The phishers have now moved on to posing as the organizers of real book clubs so that's fun, I have had to tell 3 people this week that someone is impersonating them
