Politiek is in essentie een strijd tussen botsende waarden. Inhoudelijk debat hierover vergt een zekere mate van overeenstemming over de meest relevante feiten bij het besproken onderwerp. Bij het thema klimaatbeleid is daarvan bij #VOLT en #FVD geen sprake, wat elk politiek debat vruchteloos maakt.

Er zullen de komende tijd nog veel tv-uitzendingen zijn met debatten en interviews met lijsttrekkers. Ideetje hiervoor: zet een rad van fortuin in de studio met namen van alle kamerleden van hun eigen partij. Draaien maar, en laat ze dan de drie belangrijkste wapenfeiten van dat Kamerlid noemen.

De regering Trump vraagt 9 grote universiteiten om n "compact" te tekenen. Dat stelt o.a. dat wetenschappers zich niet meer mogen uitspreken over sociale en politieke kwesties, dat universiteiten moeten rapporteren over de politieke overtuigingen van studenten &staf.

For the first time since the 1980s, I have bought a new vinyl record. It is the signed pink swirl double vinyl version of Kanadia’s new album ‘The Fire That’s Tearing Through My Home.’ Sometimes as atmospheric as Radiohead, sometimes as anthemic as Muse. My favourite track is ‘Slide Off The Earth.’

More than half of Americans get their news regularly from Tiktok. And this has more than doubled in 5 years. Tiktok has become a key gateway to news and politics.

Nu er nieuwe versies van stemhulpen komen, is het goed om te benadrukken dat ontwerpkeuzes van deze tools effecten hebben op de resultaten. Bijvoorbeeld het gebruik van een 'politiek landschap' of niet.

Het mooiste geschenk in de jaren '80 voor een tiener die de popmuziek ontdekte, was het geweldige radioprogramma Avondspits van Frits Spits. Jarenlang luisterde ik vrijwel dagelijks. Zijn enthousiasme was aanstekelijk en droeg bij aan mijn liefde voor muziek. Bedankt, Frits, voor alle mooie radio.
