If you ask the public about what National Parks are for, the same answer comes up time after time. Wildlife. Nature. Places to connect with the wild.

A ‘nature first’ commitment could be the basis for a new social contract between the National Parks and the nation.

Our National Parks are at risk. ⚠️

From the rugged Lakes to the sweeping South Downs, these landscapes define us and our future. They sustain wildlife, communities and our wellbeing - and they must be protected.

A future that puts them at risk isn't what anyone voted for.
A scenic view of a National Park landscape with a winding stone path leading through green hills and valleys under soft sunlight. In the centre of the image, bold black text on a red-and-black hazard-striped background reads: “DON’T WEAKEN NATIONAL PARK PROTECTIONS.” Below it, in white text, is the hashtag “#NationalParksMatter.”

The British public love National Parks & Landscapes.

Weakening the law that protects them would be devastating for nature, visitors & the businesses they support.

These places need more support from Gov't to make them wilder & more accessible to everyone 👇

"They better look after the National Parks & the Protected Landscapes because it's going to be precious, not just for us but, 150, 200 years time people will regret it if those things start getting traded off"

Climate change is already damaging the nature, beauty and heritage we care for. Without deep and sustained cuts to emissions, nature faces an even more perilous future and the places people love will continue to suffer.

Strengthening the duty on public bodies to “seek to further” National Parks and Landscapes was biggest step forward in protection in decades. Ditching it makes no sense: evidence including from NE, Defra, the Parks & the High Court, all suggests the Duty works alongside the Planning system. (3/3)

National Parks are the Crown Jewels of our countryside, loved by millions, and world-famous as Britain’s most special and iconic landscapes. Why on earth would any Government want to make it easier to pollute the Lake District or bulldoze the New Forest?

If this came to pass, it would be absolutely devastating for National Parks and National Landscapes.

The Protected Landacapes duty is the main power they have to secure action for nature. But the Times is reporting Ministers considering scrapping it. 1/3

Yet even in precious #NationalParks, freshwaters have been ignored by successive governments, companies & regulators 📉
