Football writer. Otherwise into the usual stuff. Politics, music, literature, art, film, TV, natural world, long-distance train travel, cricket, golf, boxing, tennis, pro-celebrity subbuteo, himalayan bungee jumping. You know, normal human pursuits.

Accidentally discovered a great way to uncover bots. Put something ridiculous in your profile. I've been asked who my favourite celeb is in pro-celebrity subbuteo and told by a couple of young ladies they enjoy Himalayan bungee jumping too.

That last answer's heartbreaking.

How serious is Covid locally?

1 People talking about it in the street - meh

2 Seen a couple of nasty coughing fits when out - hmm

3 CHIPPIE SHUT ON ACCOUNT OF COVID - vaccinate me now

River City started out as a purely Scottish soap and stayed that way.
rossfootball.bsky.social
Neighbours started out as a purely Aussie soap, bought by the BBC as an afternoon filler & grew to be broadcast in 60 countries, helping make big stars. Margot Robbie, Kylie Minogue, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Alan Dale, Natalie Imbruglia, Liam Hemsworth, Jason Donovan.

Grievance culture at its worst.

Taggart FFS. 27 seasons, over 130 episodes. Nah, River City wasn't cancelled because it wasn't shown in England. It simply wasn't as good as Coronation Street or EastEnders & enjoyed a good run of over twenty years. Plenty of 'English' soaps have been cancelled long before that.

This has been a pub argument for half a century and that's where it should stay. Top quality Scottish programmes are shown successfully UK-wide. Guilt & Still Game for example. I'd wager the latter wasn't understood entirely by many non-Scots but it was a superb comedy enjoyed by all.

Christ we all know there's a long-established grievance culture but this is ridiculous. 'English wife syndrome' FFS. Run with this & the logical corollary is not to cast Scottish actors of any gender where their partner isn't also Scottish.
rossfootball.bsky.social
Big unanswered question. Is it fighting the English generally or just the English wives?
rossfootball.bsky.social
Sounds good. How effective is it?
rossfootball.bsky.social
Sound serious. Any cure or at least treatment that can alleviate the situation.

"last won" makes it sound like it happened more than once.

Now THAT'S what I call a name.

When my parents retired the TV was on all day though often just as background noise. I swore this wouldn't happen to me when I retired. I restrict my (non-sport) viewing to 2 hours max per day. Something really special has to come along to make me break that rule.

Interview With The Vampire did.

Note: “a step”

The “deserve to watch” line can be used across multiple different continent. As it inevitably will be over the coming years.

I've never seen stats like this in my life. League matches played away from home: Since last away shut-out vs since last away defeat.

Of course it will be this month. The Regulator starts work next month.

As people in PL brace themselves for the City verdict “this month” (something we’ve heard before) there’s a belief any regulatory impact will be greatly lessened by last month’s APT settlement

A core part of financial rules have now been locked in place

The falling dominoes that could finally deliver a verdict on Man City’s 100+ charges
A decision is finally expected soon on the infamous Manchester City case, with the recent settlement in the APT case possibly foreshadowing the end of the saga

"This month". Okay, so we know it's going to be October. But which year?

And of course their last Kilmarnock piece is now thirteen days and two matches old.

What a marvellous job that must be. Scouring the net to see what you can cut and paste.

The same guy who brought us the astonishing news that a Wrexham player who has never kicked a ball in Scottish football knew what had gone wrong at Ibrox. In this case the piece was lifted from the BBC,

Here's the kicker. Both written by the same person.

Every day I think @heraldsport.bsky.social can't get any worse. Every day they prove me wrong. Here are two conflicting pieces on the Rangers manager hunt, both with same publication date - yesterday. Both cribbing from other sources. In this instance STV and the Rangers Review.

Opening sentence in this para is a thing of beauty.
