Both my children were diagnosed with RP this year. I am trying to work with Duke Eye Center to expand their RP research because I am determined to help find a cure for my children.

Many people in my husband's family have it as do both of our children. They have the PRPF31 gene

Both my children have RP and are night blind. I am so sorry. It's a terrible disease but hopefully a cure is right around the corner.

Unfortunately each form of Retinitis Pigmentosa is different. Some progress quickly and some slowly, and then there are some like PRPF31 that can progress quickly or slowly and they don't know why. Regardless, it is definitely stressful, particularly if your progression comes on quickly.
