I always love a good pup post, especially with photos!

Reesie agrees. "Squirrels are evildoers."

I know what you mean. We've adopted a series of senior dogs with troubles over the years and they've taught us a lot about love and survival. Their predecessors ultimately died of old age, near 20 and I hope Jack & Reesie will have long lives too.

Don̈a Gracia of the House of Nasi, by Cecil Roth. Young widow of a wealthy Jewish merchant-banker surprises everyone by managing her fortune well, & running a refugee operation across Europe, all while defying the Spanish Inquisition.

Another good memory. Gabi was a snuggler. Taken about 2015.

Happy memory from 2010. Gabi was on my shoulder and all was right with the world. #poodles #dogsofbluesky

Letting go of my little Gabi was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but I did it from love. It put an end to her considerable suffering.

You have given your dog a good life, and the easiest possible end of life is a loving gift.

I'm watching through the fog as the last hours of 2025 tick past, as the rain pours and pours.

I am still mourning for my little sweetheart. Gabi died 3 years ago yesterday after 13 happy years together. She'd been rescued from life on the street in Las Vegas, and when I visited her foster she picked me out. I am forever grateful.

Partners in crime: Jack and Reesie want to come into the house again.

This has been a wet, chilly week in the SF Bay Area. We've spent our evenings on the couch snuggled up with dogs, shawls, and mugs of hot tea or chocolate.
December 27, 2025 at 7:12 AM
I had the pleasure of Gabi's company from April 2009 until December 2022, every moment precious. Thank you for making space for memory and gratitude.

Dr Jack wishes every one a lovely holiday, including a nice nap.

Reesie when we brought her home in August, and Reesie after 4 months of healing, good food, and love.

She was in a fight when she lived on the street, and the wounds were very nasty looking.
Thanks to the rescuers in Sacramento and the kind people at #Muttville in SF, we are now her people.
