Because I cannot reach out to my former friend to respond to his message telling me off for warning people about him, I have decided to post it in the hopes that he either sees it some day some way and learns to grow as a person, or my words can hopefully help others. This is not a time for silence.
To a former friend. The fact that you see my actions of calling out your views as nothing more than shallow pettiness, hatefulness, and vindictiveness, speaks volumes to the blindness of your choices and the inability to understand how your actions have consequences, or how continuing to support someone as hateful and vile as Trump makes you complicit in his actions. You have consistently shown that you are blind to the situations of others and lack any empathy to anyone different from you; an American, cisgendered male. You may have somehow not realized our friendship was over after our last conversation in October, but I can firmly say that after our last conversation I had nothing but shame for having spent so many years supporting you with as much dedication as I had, or for thinking you were a decent human being. The moment you told me nothing would ever change your mind on your views, that it's just "who you are", and that I should accept it, I knew I was dealing with a willfully ignorant person who doesn't care about changing his mind despite any mountain of evidence. The literal definition of a bigot. I don't even use that word as an insult. It's simply a point of fact. I wrote those posts exactly for the reason I said. Because people who support Trump, like you, are dangerous and don't belong in these communities. Your "bad takes" and supporting of those who share them are what has led the US into becoming a crumbling dictatorship run by one of the most selfish and cruelly inept grifters in history within a span of 2 months. Your support for Trump has lead to an impending economic collapse, social rights being trampled, and worse. You support a traitor to the US constitution, an enemy to Canada and the free world, a warmonger, a pedophile, a sexual predator, and a narcissistic sociopath. You support a fascist dictator, and that makes you a fascist. This is not me being petty. This is literally how supporting something works. So I chose to not stand i… ou told me multiple times that I had no right to talk about US politics. That it didn't involve me as a Canadian. That, as a Canadian, I “didn't understand US politics”. Now Trump is trying to annex my country and destroy my economy. He insults my PM and spreads lies about my people. Your idiocy in thinking that what happens in the US doesn't affect the world says a lot about how blind you are to anything outside of yourself. Your arrogance in shooting down every warning I gave you all because I wasn't American shows your contempt to people you don't consider “equal”. You voted for Trump and your continued support is your complicity. It's not a difficult concept to understand. You are a willful enemy of my country and I will treat you and any Trump supporters as such. As for "breaking your trust by sharing private conversations"; I cannot disagree more. Absolutely nothing I shared was private personal information. All I shared were our views and the reasons we hold them. I can say with confidence that there are no views I hold or arguments I make to defend those views that I would be afraid to have shared. Because I believe in my views. And if proven wrong I will gladly change them. There is nothing I believe that I wouldn't change given adequate proof against. You however have stated that nothing can ever change your mind and that it's just “who you are”; The epitome of stupidity and any refusal to learn. Yet despite your “strong” stance on your views, you're so ashamed of them or afraid to be known for what you believe in that you hide to make people think you're someone you're not. It says a lot about you as a person; not only a bigot, but a coward. I believe in my views and my stances enough to show them proudly on my profile, unlike you. I believe in them enough to proudly talk about them in my posts, unlike you. I have no shame in people knowing what I believe and why. If you think you're so right; I dare you to do the same. I challenge you to say your view… You are also a hypocrite by your own actions. You defended Trump's attacks and lies on the Haitians of Springfield by saying that it was, and I quote, "Trump's First Amendment right to lie", and that he had no responsibility for the attacks and violence against Haitians because he didn't outright call for violence against them. These were YOUR positions. And yet now, you are upset about me using my first amendment right to "lie", and are blaming me for any problems my words may have caused you, despite me being clear that I don't condone others going after you. By your own argument, I've done nothing wrong and I have every right to not only say what I did, but do so as a right AND that my words cannot in any means be the cause of any problems against you since I was clear that no one harass you (which is more than Trump ever did for the Haitians). Yet you threatened me to take down my posts or you'd report my account. Last I checked a man running for president and calling an entire community of people pet eaters and causing bomb threats and violence to their community is a little worse than a nobody artist calling out one person, yet one of these you defended as their one true right to do so, and the other you threaten to report and called petty. So you are not only a bigot, and a coward, but a hypocrite who only cares about cause and affect when it happens to you; something I've seen time and time again with you. You're an adult in your mid-thirties, closing in on forty. You need to learn to grow up and realize you're not just an furry hyper porn artist who gets to say and do whatever you want without repercussions. You're a person who's actions have consequences and affects the people and the communities around you. In this case your actions and beliefs are sitting in the White House destroying democracy, human rights, and world economies.
