I’ve heard from multiple friends today about daycares being raided and parents being ripped out of cars (in one case with a child left behind in the backseat). Grim times here.
The situation in Minneapolis is insane: seemingly many large convoys of heavily armed masked men, blocking off streets at random, grabbing people nearly at random, racing around the city with no discernible plan or aim. Under attack by our own government the day after it killed someone

"It’s easier to dislodge a tinpot dictator in Venezuela than to deter great powers....But this raises the biggest question at the heart of the 'Donroe Doctrine': Does Trump even want to deter those powers? Or does he want to carve up the world with them?"

The outcome of the war in Ukraine and the integrity of the transatlantic alliance are far more important to the future of the United States’ security than the existence of a decaying petro-dictatorship in South America.

Umm, what the fuck is going on in Grand Rapids, MI? Did this young woman just get arrested for speaking out about Venezuela? If this is legit we are now fast walking into fascism, we need to get a lot louder than we have been. It’s about to get ugly, y’all‼️

And this is why we shouldn't do that shit.
Denmark’s PM Mette Frederiksen is blunt:
If the U.S. attacks a NATO ally, the post-WWII order dies and America becomes the threat NATO was built to stop.👀

Trump’s fascism is targeting white Americans who oppose him.

It started by targeting Black and brown people, and now it will aggressively target white people who stand in solidarity with Black and brown people.

So for months they have tried to blame the entire fentanyl crisis on Venezuela and the indictment only mentions cocaine, which they pardoned a different guy for weeks ago

Much broader, it's about upending the entire world order and creating three areas of influence. The Americas to US; Europe to Russia; and Asia to China. To the Oligarchs. But if Russia is any model, and it is, the Oligarchs should be very fearful. One question. Who gets Greenland?
It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

Trump says we need to go after drug cartels.

Meanwhile, he disbanded a DOJ task force that took them on.

And he pardoned a former Honduran president convicted of drug trafficking.

Trump doesn't care about drugs — he wants to be able to declare war on anyone he labels an enemy.

It's a power grab.

Where the Hell Are THEY!
That one person can drag us into a war without consulting or even notifying Congress, or our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary, is absolutely bonkers.

Reminder that Congress has the power to stop all of this. Where the hell are they?

*And I received a helpful clarification from an int’l law/human rights expert: Maduro would enjoy still HoS immunity regardless of crimes committed while in office

I would think Maduro has head of state immunity from prosecution under international law (with exception for grave human rights violations, see, e.g., Pinochet)
Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.
