Ever since I set a goal of 3×10 squatting my own body weight, I've been using past-me of differing ages as a benchmark. Today I did one set of 12 reps of 19-year-old-me's weight. So I'm halfway there, age-wise. (30 pounds shy weight-wise)

A couple times now I've seen people say he needs his own "Praetorean guard," and uh, while I understand what they're trying to say, I would like to remind them of what the Praetorean guard were most famous for doing to the leaders they were supposed to protect.

The thing that pushes me to anarchism no matter what is that I care about my friends. They can have thoughts about the that I disagree with but I want my friends to be safe. And if my friends are made unsafe by the govmnt, fuck the government. That is always the point of truth. People over systems.

That is true to an extent. I think canned beans + mushrooms (which are super easy to cook fresh) can overcome that barrier easier that people tend to think.

You're 100% correct, people are too hung up on the "meat substitutes". I definitely understand wanting the savory/umami flavor, but you can get that without going for the Impossible Burger or whatever. Mushrooms have umami! Soy sauce has umami! And they're way cheaper, relatively speaking.

PS: quick'n'dirty portobello recipe: slice caps and marinade in red wine, olive oil, crushed garlic cloves, salt, pep, rosemary, thyme - at least an hour, overnight if you plan ahead (I usually don't). Cook in a skillet on med-high heat until tender and w/slight char.

I honestly don't understand people who say going vegetarian/vegan is too expensive. Like, I eat meat (partially for health reasons), but I view it as a damn luxury that I can't always afford. Today I looked at the price of beef, was like "nah," and bought portobello caps for half the price instead.

ICE did tear gas a bunch of CPD officers the other day - it wasn't targeted, ICE was indiscriminately gassing the whole street - but I can't imagine the officers were particularly pleased. I remain skeptical that that will translate into meaningful resistance, though.
