yea, the connectors generally turn to goo. I have a few bins of things I should still sort that were stripped that way. the hotplate and heatgun can actually do a really elegant, fragile, yet effective job of it! (I could use a bit more control)

THAT stack isn't a lot, thats why I'm stripping it down, each of those boards probably has 10 or less surface mount parts I want. I need space!!!

its a good point, I have a lot of stock, but I see the value when I want to build something and can make it all from parts in stock.
I'm not sure on an actual %, but I can say its a hard number to pin, I have printed many kg of plastic and can only account for maybe 1kg of it. low waste too.

I think *those* ribbon cables will delaminate and short-to-death long before they tear. I actually suspect you would have to pull like hell to get those laminated copper strips to give out. I have encountered a few.
