i.e. using “Thomas Edison petting a tarantula” as the input, a search engine will not return an image of Thomas Edison petting a tarantula, where generative tools will generate that image for the user. Thus the tool is creating and publishing the image that did not previously exist.

The primary difference is that a search engine, simply returns the pre-existing results of the search term(s). What grok and other generative tools is doing is generating new material in response to user input.
