This Proposed Rule does more harm than this. 1) it shortens the grace period from 60 days to 30 days for intel students to find a job. 2) it forbids students who earned higher level degrees to enroll in a lower level one. 3) prohibiting changing programs for students pursuing grad degrees. For most PhD programs, on average, it takes about 6~7 years to finish. When students have to renew their visa every 4 years, it means everyone will apply to the visa application 2 times now. Financially, it adds another 300$ ( Visa app fee) + international round trip+ accommodations (min 1500$).

3) the sole focus on international students’ economic contributions often, unintentionally, reinforces the objectification of international students as cash cows.

2) The emotional toll that comes from these changes is tremendously high. Imagining you live in a new country for 10 years and finally feeling comfortable enough to enjoy it, now all of sudden you’re told to start over again in a later stage of your life course.

I think it’s important to mention that, beyond their economic contribution, international students are also real people who have lived in the US quite long and built their lives here instead of transient sojourns. Being on F1 for almost my entire 20s, I have mixed feelings about what’s happening.

😅facing climate change, long term economic recession, advancement of AI, high living costs, declining political and social freedom, is it really surprising to anyone why Gen Z loves the idea of carpe diem?? You can’t take all their hope away and then blame them for being shortsighted.

The exclusion of Chinese was extremely violent. For many Asian immigrants, even Americans who’re Asian descents, rarely knew much about it. I even didn’t know more about this history until last year. Check this book out to learn more about the horrific past and its lingering effects on today.

This is terrible but it is also misleading. The US government is not the accreditor - they've basically written a letter to Columbia's *actual* accreditor and demanded that they take action.

When I brought my Affogato to table, I asked all my friends (Americans) how to eat it. Everyone was unsure what’s the best way to it. Should I mix it or not? So I just scooped the ice cream from the espresso and ate bit by bit. We had to google it to find it out!

I actually had Affogato for the first time this April after living in the US for almost a decade. I even traveled to Italy once😅It was funny that even the part-time cashier asked her coworker how to make it after I ordered. Since then, I noticed the varieties of Affogato around me, ⬇️the Matcha one

It goes without saying but this is an incredibly stupid decision for a multitude of reasons, but primary among them is that there’s no rationale behind any of it. Just pure, bigoted, knee jerk stupidity.
