How long has it been since you first read 'Frankenstein; The Modern Prometheus'?

Have you read it more than once? How recently have you re-read it?

What thoughts did it bring to life within you?

Will you watch the del Toro film, and if so, will you read/re-read the book prior to doing so?
Cover of the first edition of Frankenstein; The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley, published in 1818.

It can be hard to feel confident as a player when the characters' specialized knowledge informs so much of how play flows. Tools like this are very useful~

Good idea. The police procedures list in Blade Runner works wonders for guiding IC thought and enabling IC conversation~

I had a #ttrpg chat with 1/2 of Thieves Guild Games about a variety of things including their past, present, and future games, some design considerations which went into them, and the ever-popular notion that "that word we keep using might not mean what we think it means"~

If you were going to run @chaosium.bsky.social 's Pendragon next, how would your vision for the land and its people take shape and influence how you presented them to the players?

Short but intense session of CoC today. One of the expected players was able to make the session due to a power outage, and a schedule conflict meant play time was suddenly limited to an hour. It would have been very easy to cancel, but I am glad we didn't. It was a momentous hour~

Returning to Pendragon… again

What is Pendragon, really? Can we come to terms with it without first finding and naming our Arthur as King?

I am very curious about the spirit and context in which that was written. Taken on its own like this, it raises more questions than it answers~

I got to learn about how Frederico Sohns makes their incredible, subversive, and rich #ttrpg. What can we say about our world when making games about other worlds? Listen on all the podcatchers or here: open.spotify.com/episode/5wDy...

There are lots of RPG references throughout the series, but False Value currently stands as the single entry with the most references and the deepest cuts for gamers by @benaaronovitch.bsky.social

What will be the deciding factor?
runeslinger.bsky.social
An unnecessary fracture in the RPG hobby has formed around the idea that it should function around gaining individual consent *rather than* around finding consensus within the group. The longer the opposite views go without grasping the uses and contexts of each, the wider that fracture will grow.

100%. We can see preferences shift from initial biases over time, with growing understanding, and widening exposure. Then - if players consider how to satisfy their preferences effectively - settle into a consistent style of play which draws from and influences their culture of play. It's not DoB~

One persistent pitch idea involves inverting Treasure of the Sierra Madre to tempt struggling characters with hints of a mysterious new source of gold in the region to see what happens~

I have thoughts about that game, too. Requests are for Alien and Blade Runner, but my reactions are Tales of the Old West~

I have caught up with the end of another fun #RPGaDay. Some more fun and interesting posts for this year’s #RPGaDay2025. 🙂
I used the prompts to make a game handout, but that hasn’t been revealed in game yet, hence why I’ve not shared it yet. 😀

Despite decades of strong evidence in rereads, gaming, and personal skill development, it has just occurred to me that my personal (savior) Tolkien is Dumas.
