Well, I'm not at work. This is my one day off in a stretch of thirteen calendar days, lucky me! I get to recuperate by doing chores and laundry 🙄😂

Morale at work has been abysmal. Today in particular, the group chat is 1) angry, and 2) absolutely not here for MAGA nonsense.

I mean, I'm personally trying to catch up with chores/adulting, since today is my only scheduled day off in a stretch of *thirteen calendar days*. And that's been the reality of our scheduling/staffing for YEARS now.

I think people haven't really thought through what a collapsed air traffic control system would actually mean. It's not just holiday travel!

Not true. Air traffic controllers cannot strike (please see Title 5 of the US Code, the Taft-Hartley Act, and the oath of service sworn by all federal employees).

It's literally a very normal traffic management initiative, if you understand how air traffic control works. It's not concerning at all - it's simply a way to keep traffic moving, when higher altitude airspace is too busy.

That's what is meant when there's a reference to "escape routes" in the daily plan. You can get out of the specified terminal area, but only if you agree to fly at a lower altitude. It relieves some of the traffic volume in saturated higher-altitude sectors.

Yep. I've worked plenty of holidays, since I'm a child-free cat lady and all. I normally don't even try to get leave on those days, though my seniority is good for it. My colleagues only get so many Christmas mornings with their kids, right?

I'm gonna keep Thanksgiving off this year, though.
