Air traffic controller, cat lady (she/her/that bitch), hockey fan (#GoAvsGo), weather geek, reader, writer. Missing my dad. Colorado isn't bad, but I'd rather be in Las Vegas...or on a cold-weather cruise.

Air traffic controllers: we're the butt of "government employee" jokes, and a default (though often incorrect) explanation for any random flight delays.

But now the general public thinks we're obligated to be their heroes, through illegal work actions. Man, I'm just trying to make it to retirement!

The President wouldn't last five minutes as an air traffic controller, and after everything they've been through - and the way this administration has treated them from Day One - he has no business shitting on them now.

I think people haven't really thought through what a collapsed air traffic control system would actually mean. It's not just holiday travel!

Shapiro, rebuffing Vance about SNAP: "(JD Vance) claims to be a person of faith. I know my Bible, and my Bible teaches us that we are to love thy neighbor and we are to feed the hungry. Deuteronomy says, If you see a person who is in need, you don't give them a clenched fist. You open up your hand."
Shapiro: He rose to some prominence by writing a book about growing up in Appalachia, where there are a whole lot of people who get SNAP. He made millions of dollars off telling their stories, and then he turned his damn back on those very people he likes to write about and claim as his own.

I see everyone's having a very normal Friday. Carry on.
The latest FAA operations plan comes into effect at the top of the hour.

“SEVERAL MORE STAFFING TRIGGERS HAVE BEEN ADDED SINCE THE LAST PLAN.”

For those of you just joining this party, I have not been paid for any of the work I've done since October 3rd. You're welcome. #airtrafficcontrol

I posted this as a reply elsewhere, but I'll say it again:

We air traffic controllers are not okay. The delay you call unnecessary may have been the delay that prevented one or more of us from working an unsafe level of traffic...

Awesome! Delay everything. I'm rather looking forward to a Friday that isn't stupidly busy...that sounds great 😇

You expect us to be perfect, all the time, six days a week, unpaid, for how long, exactly? Continue to play stupid games, you're going to win some stupid prizes. #airtrafficcontrol
BREAKING: The U.S. Department of Transportation announces it will reduce scheduled airspace capacity by 10% starting Friday morning if the government shutdown has not ended, citing "growing pressure" in the NAS as controllers and other personnel continue to go unpaid. Developing story.

1. We wait for the NTSB.

2. The primary coverage right now is about injuries on the ground.

3. They will find every possible piece of the wreck. It will tell a story. The investigators, almost all gov’t employees, are some of the best in the world at this.

4. The engines are a critical focus.

As the FAA deals with a long list of staffing triggers at facilities across the country tonight, the agency shares that half of the “Core 30 facilities are experiencing staffing shortages, and nearly 80 percent of air traffic controllers are absent at New York–area facilities.”

The holidays are right around the corner, and Air Traffic Controllers continue to work without pay.

Busy time of year for travel.

How will this situation end?

Can't pass a drug test, can't meet physical standards, can't manage an open-book test? That's all cool?

And yet, some folks cried BIG alligator tears about "DEI in air traffic control". Implied that we basically give the job away to meet imaginary racial quotas. The absolute hypocrisy, every day...
