F to your lobster roll, your city window, and yourself, but the architecture doesn't make me claustrophobic and itchy at least! Also, the fog was being nice today, so we got to drive over + see the bridge (though I got more excited over a really cool accipitor I saw fishing than the bridge tbh)

Getting my mom to join her local snake rescue group via my own enthusiasm about them was one of my greatest achievements of all time, I think. Namely because now I get awesome rattler pics on the regular. Look at all these pretty babies!!
A tan and cream mojave rattlesnake, curled up in a neat little ball with its tongue sticking out. It has an unusual patch of slate-black scales on its head. Three rattlesnakes (species unknown, most likely southern pacifics) in a green bucket, on a pair of old washcloths. The top is a typical brown and cream rattlesnake, the bottom a more reddish morph, but the one in the middle is a beautiful, unusual pale teal and peach colour- possibly due to the tint of the bucket.

So the reason why I'm excited about this one is because it reminds me of how you sex crabs, which is actually really cool. Essentially, crabs are folded up lobsters- over evolutionary time, they became more and more compact by folding their tails up underneath their body, which you can see below

And finally, my more niche fascination...THE CROTCH. I caught a glimpse of texture between the legs while I was trying to get a look at the lower back spiracles, and got really excited about groin plating. This isn't even about fanfic, I promise- just hear me out on this one.

No crazy bio for this one, just hand appreciation. These are probably just wrinkles in the skin, but I like to imagine that they're subcutaneous chitin plates bc that's cool. Maybe a more flexible variant, like cartilige to our bones? (Still need to figure out Eliksni bones/carapace btw)

Second trait: obligatory mouth pics. I really wish that they were rendered in more depth, but I find their tooth structure extremely cool. The layout paired with the fact that they have serrated teeth (Lord of Wolves loretab) makes me think they evolved a Helicoprion-esque bite

First off: spiracle location! I had an inkling they were located here, but they looked more like carapace nooks on the renders. What I find interesting is that they're much lower than you'd expect, and there seems to be one set over the back hips as well (will show later). Included a grub for comp.

Here's Toast 'helping' me with my animation project last night (aka somehow managing to press the 'rotate canvas' button endlessly as he shnoodled all over the place)
A picture of my kingpin ball python, Cinnamon Toast Toffee Cake, as he's in the process of climbing over my laptop. A reference sheet of Atraks-0, set on a light pink, desaturated background. There's two headshots on the left, a fullbody in the middle, and a diagram explaining some side effects of her colour mutation on the right (as well as a chibi version of her exo form, with her arms up yelling 'freedom!' next to a trans flag drawing). Atraks is a more heavyset Eliksni with a broad, square muzzle, curling setae, and a form of leucism that causes a degree of separation between carapace layers, resulting in difficult, fragmented moults. Her colour palette has been directly picked from a rare, real-world colour morph of lobsters. She has short, curled setae, small, triangular mandibular fangs, and is noted to have traits reminiscent of Dancers in the northern Riisian provinces. She's smiling gently at the viewer in the two headshots, but has been startled in the fullbody drawing, having being caught picking away at her stuck moult by another Eliksni offscreen (presumably Eramis).
