I'm sure GTA VI will eclipse it once you actually analyze it. Speculation based on a trailer isn't that interesting unless you're *really* eager for the game.

It’s the difference between seeing a game is available and just getting it, and having to go through a checklist and watching performance reviews.

I don’t know. Seems like a poor experience. Most Steam games have no gamepad support. There’s the anticheat situation for multiplayer games, and the specs are so low that some games will already struggle.
Let alone after PS6 comes out a year later.

If you pick up an instrument, hit a key, strum the strings, etc. It'll make a sound.

But when you open up a game engine, there is no game. It's created from nothing by describing it in great, mathematical level of detail, until the engine knows exactly which pixels to send to the screen.

It'd be interesting to see a technical analysis of this with profiling. The claims I can find, I have my doubts about.

Almost! It was because of Fallout 76. Many studios were pivoting to live service games, and Bethesda gave their roadmap to reassure people they would still be making singleplayer games.

Todd admitted this in an interview somewhere. He regrets doing the trailer instead of keeping it low-key.

Both are voxel-based too.

The electricity, even of a laptop, would cost me more than my VPS contract does.

I almost feel bad for Epic that their engine is being abused like this. It looks so cheap and careless. No art direction. Artifacts everywhere.

On the other hand we have the wonderful looking Keeper. Games like that exist too.

Honestly looks more like this to me

I would call this a fever dream but those make more sense.

It’s very helpful for justifying any conclusions you wanted.

People do that?

It basically requires another exploit to abuse it, and because Unity made such a fuzz of it all the major games have been patched or will be soon.

So thanks to the responsible action, it's unlikely to be used.

Check out some Haxe frameworks too. It transpiles to Javascript so you get the same ”web native” feel.

The worst of it is on Android with certain permissions enabled, a URL could be used to launch the game and trigger an RCE.

Starfield. It was okay.

Yeah if you’re not too deep in I’d recommend just rolling your own spline tools. It’s not worth using the official one. Just overengineered, buggy and performs badly.

It's more about trying to build something that was in scope and realizing it needs more work to support it.

These things ease off after a while but it's hard to estimate when.

Work gets done but the scope keeps expanding. Also not full time so it's not a game dev day today :(
