Taylor Swift once again rescued the box office from what would've otherwise been a dismal weekend, this time with The Official Release Party of a Showgirl.

Daniel Day-Lewis came out of retirement to star in his son's feature debut, but the return of one of the greatest actors of all time was a box office flop.

Squeezed in one last workout before flying to Vegas tomorrow. 25 minutes with the ol' boxing bag and a quick 2 mile run. I feel great. I'm f****g ready.

Onward.

Tomorrow I am getting on a plane to go to Las Vegas so that I can get married on Friday. This is impossible for my brain to comprehend.

In July, I had the good fortune of traveling to Poland to see the Nowa Huta district first-hand, which served as the inspiration for CRONOS: THE NEW DAWN.

I got to document my findings for the latest issue of @fangoria.bsky.social, on stands now. I couldn't be happier. Check it out!!!!

THE SMASHING MACHINE opened to just $6 million at the box office, well below pre-release projections. If The Rock can't help get people out for a movie like this, I don't know where that leaves us. It feels rather bleak.

Even Dwayne Johnson's buzzed-about performance wasn't enough to prevent The Smashing Machine from flopping at the box office in its opening weekend.

Ravens are ass. Pats are winning again. My boy Flacco is done. Rodgers is a Steeler and they're for sure going to the playoffs the way that division is shaping up.

I'm going to get into hockey. Fuck football.

Lamar is as good as it gets (regular season).
ryanscottwrites.bsky.social
They're 1-4. It doesn't matter. The full circle narrative would mean more to me and Shadeur feels like such a distraction.
ryanscottwrites.bsky.social
F*** it the Ravens should just get Flacco from the Browns and go full circle while Lamar is injured

Listen. If you didn't want to be seen as the Twitter escape pod, you shouldn't have deliberately fostered a community of people so united by their contempt for arbitrary authority and love of absolute free speech that they were willing to abandon a platform they'd been using for 15 years
ryanscottwrites.bsky.social
I don't exactly think so. I suspect Taylor Swift didn't help and it's a "wait to stream" situation for most people. SMASHING MACHINE became more of a curiosity item rather than a must-see event.

THE SMASHING MACHINE is aiming for the "marathon not a sprint" box office play but those are hard to come by these days.

Even setting that aside, a $6 million opening against a $50 million budget is "yikes" territory no matter how you slice it. Relying on LONG legs and a *lot* of help overseas.

‘The SMASHING MACHINE’ earned $2.7M on Friday, projecting a $6-8M opening weekend.

Despite festival buzz, A24’s $50M film may struggle to recover costs at the box office.
