this works with every card that has an effect like oblivion ring that is templated as an ETB and LTB effect rather than how banishing light is worded btw. like fiend hunter. you could realistically 'rule shark' people with these effects in comp tournaments lmao

explanation: if you play oblivion ring and then remove it from the battlefield before oblivion ring's enter the battlefield effect resolves, the leave-the-battlefield effect that returns what was exiled triggers before the ETB effect that exiles the actual card, resulting in it being exiled forever

i'm convinced that some people look at words and just go off of the general shape rather than the individual letters in the word and their brain short circuits whenever they try to take speech to text or vice versa and run into something they don't know

i think i'm just gonna go back to joplin even though it's a bit clunky and doesn't really have the sort of 'mapping' functionality that i was interested in trying this other software for because the fact of the matter is that i didn't have to read the fucking docs to figure out how to use joplin

i tried looking at some thought-mapping-note-taking software (will be unnamed to be nice) and it immediately did this and its visual design is so fucking "clean" and sparse like modern phone apps that i literally cannot figure out how to use it and i'm starting to feel old

that particular software that they recommended has something of a minor reputation for having incredibly strange problems, at least judging from what i've seen other people mention having to wrestle with, and i'd rather not deal with that
