I’m a trans woman in my early 30s who lives in Portland! I’m very active in my local community, both as a furry and an activist in local politics!

Great news from Portland Parks. They've made it easier and cheaper for mobile vendors to set up at local parks!

Food trucks & other vendors make public spaces sticky & build community.

It’s not that I think people can’t feel unfulfilled by politicians but maybe it’s in our best interest to platform good voices rather than platform none

My hope is that the underlying class consciousness hits West Virginia like a wrecking ball someday. Get back to their union roots and find solidarity within the state rather than finding new ways to make enemies

Yeah I’m specifically talking about Portland here and places where progressive politics can exist. It also feels a bit performative when there are swaths of unrepresented people across the country that actually are repressed by their local governments

If a poly transgender furry can kick it with a city councilor at Yur’s on a Tuesday night, I’d say we’ve got some good representation. I want more socialism. To make that happen we have to support the politicians that align with us, even if we disagree on some specifics.

I fully believe in tearing down the system if possible but until that time comes, you need to be able to push the needle.

NYT is making articles about our socialist city council, trying to make us look bad. We’re getting fear mongered yet very few Portland residents know their city councilors

There’s an intellectual incuriosity in just hating electeds period. Is any elected going to be interested in a group of people that just think all politicians are bad?

Ultimately in politics it is imperative that we make our demands known. That we understand the systems that make change possible

I was at a punk show last night and as the opening band made statements about not being represented by the people we voted for, I gotta say I’m more represented locally than I’ve ever been.

Blanket statements about politicians bad don’t actually shift the needle. There are good politicians

I’ve been listening since he came to my small hometown in Longview, WA about 15 years ago! He’s got a pretty big catalog and tons of great stuff. Highly recommend
