Something’s wrong here alright…

Sick of lying men using women as props in their disingenuous arguments to try to justify their asshole policies

Mike Johnson: "If you're a young, pregnant American citizen women who shows up in an ER and you get treated and they pay the hospital less for treating you than some illegal rabble rouser who came in from some South American country to do us harm, that is wrong."

This really makes it sound like a Border Patrol agent tried to kill an anti-ICE activist in Chicago and DHS lied to cover for him

I'm so proud of my sister, who was head writer for Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood and is now the showrunner of this brand-new HORTON! series for Netflix.

Please watch with your family! It's hard to get preschool shows made these days, and the algo isn't built for this www.netflix.com/title/81388347

It's Money Monday - the day of the week I focus on finances for my small business. Today I will have officially paid thousands of dollars in tariffs that didn't exist when I made my budget for the year.

Yeah I think these are fair points.

I don’t think we have currently an equal distribution of current games across the population of people playing games right now or that that should be the goal. My point is more that there’s lots of room and potential players out there for more games.
sabrinac.bsky.social
If you go asking the internet about what % of people play board games in various countries considered ‘developed’, the stats actually appear to be more like 25%. I couldn’t find a singular source that seemed authoritative though
sabrinac.bsky.social
And, if we can hold it together as a species, there’s 6.8 billion more people to play with if we can continue to make progress on inequality and poverty. Rising tides lift all boats.
sabrinac.bsky.social
bigger picture- play is universal to humans. If only 10% of those 1.2 billion are buying tabletop games, I think there’s room to grow that number, at least in part by expanding the kinds of games we make, celebrate, and talk about.
sabrinac.bsky.social
But I believe we are not close to saturation.
sabrinac.bsky.social
Finding your audience, marketing, logistics, these are all hard things it’s true. It can feel like you are competing for a dwindling pie with not enough room for you or your creations.
sabrinac.bsky.social
There is so much more room for more games and different kinds of games
sabrinac.bsky.social
add to that perspective another stat: 1-4 MILLION books are published each year.
sabrinac.bsky.social
If you split up 120 million people into exclusive audiences for each game, every game would have 12000 dedicated people a year. If you assume those 120 million people buy 3 games during the year, rather than just 1 (again being conservative) that’s 36,000 people per game.
sabrinac.bsky.social
Some say 5000 games come out each year but let’s double that to 10k to be conservative.
sabrinac.bsky.social
Let’s say 10% of those people are folks who do actually buy games. That’s 120 million people.
sabrinac.bsky.social
There are about 8 billion people on the planet and about 1.2 billion of them live in ‘fully developed’ countries. Let’s conservatively assume this number for people who might be in a position to buy ‘non-essential’ items like games.

If you are a tabletop game creator feeling discouraged about how many games are coming out each year, some perspective:

“For Noem — and Trump, and Miller, and Hegseth, and Patel — the brutality is a made-for-tv movie. It’s entertainment. And they get off on the raw, naked will to power. The law be damned. They love this. They are proud of this. And they will keep doing it.”
