and to add to this point, it's not just elite sport funding, it's the funding the sports councils hand out for grassroots stuff, that feed the top end, but also keeps people fit. A couple of million of lottery money to Parkrun is a great investment (says the person who got Parkrun lottery funding)

Yeah, that makes sense. You would have had to have been in the system for about 10/12 years prior, and the build-out of the grassroots stuff happened in the mid/late 90s

It's a real struggle for the smaller sports now, as football is selling a 'you seen how much you can earn in WSL1? Our pathway is really short if you're any good, especially as a GK'

They are also in a sense of worry as Rugby is actively chasing the same group, as Netball is worried that there players are being picked off by Football
