I just think it’s so much cooler and more interesting to try to be the best audio show rather than the shittiest television show

Honestly also the brass neck of this paper, which cheered this asymmetric trade deal at the time and advocated that Liz Truss, the Cabinet minister who signed it should become *prime minister*.
A quick google informs me that after this surge, Australia provides about 4% of our beef imports, and our beef imports are about 25% of our consumption. So this headline is basically saying “anger as 0.6% becomes 1% of total” and I’m not sure that’s particularly justifiable

Used to be one of the great joys of changing bank card was being able to kill subscription without the off boarding flows. Then the likes of Netflix’s got Stripe and Adyen to build the tech to automatically change your bank card.
"One company, Rocket Money, is capitalising by selling an app that helps cancel subscriptions. It too charges a monthly fee."
Subscription overload is exhausting Americans

Been interesting to see what effect that would kind of merger, would have had on Football rights, and the absolute power the Premier League has money wise compared to the other big European leagues.
It'd be a bit too crazy for them but I would say not intervening in the sale of Sky. If you used the sale of Murdoch assets to Disney to broker a Sky/BT/ITV merger (maybe letting BBC worldwide have some of the overseas assets) then Britain would have gained a second powerful broadcast/comms company

God knows how deep a financial hole they must be in to take this deal, and consign the event to something most people won't notice www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
BBC replaced by TNT Sports as Commonwealth Games live broadcaster
The subscription channel takes over from the BBC which had been the principal partner since 1954 and provided free-to-air coverage.

A third of 16-18 year olds girls say in surveys that they experienced unwanted sexual touching at school. There are several hundred rapes reported in schools every year.
Dog-whistle and factually incorrect. Ladies, raise your hand if you were sexually assaulted by a boy at school? I’d wager this or a family member is most women’s first experience of sexual violence

And this is why the unrelenting bollocks about her being on the up and doing better, is just that, bollocks. Lazy, uninterested and terminally online
Even by my low expectations for Kemi Badenoch ‘violence against women and girls is something done by immigrants and nobody else’ has shocked me.

My new nighttime wind down is Night Tracks on BBC Radio 3 Unwind (kudos @stephenkb.bsky.social for mentioning the show to get me interested), and this last night is one of the most brilliant things I've heard. The range of track on that show is just amazing www.youtube.com/watch?v=8B4-...

It's wild. We have so many real problems as a country, and instead a large chunk of our political class would rather hallucinate that one of the safest big global cities in the world is actually dangerous.
The "London = most dangerous place on the planet" discourse is still going strong on Twitter

I've actually been surprised by how little I've felt threatened as a woman in London (having lived in Tooting and Peckham)

I loved growing up in Nottingham, but I had much, much worse experiences there tbh

📈 #IFSSatStat: The number of children in the UK is expected to decline by about 7% or 800,000 between 2025 and 2035.

These declines are expected to be fastest in Scotland (8%), Wales (10%) and Northern Ireland (15%).
