The perception of political influence has tainted the belief in the truthfulness of scientists, which in turn affects the influence that these experts have on enabling the general public to make well informed decisions.

Many of us are guilty of inadvertently building echo chambers even pre social media. Social media makes the chambers larger allowing us to falsely believe that we are not in one.

So we all need access to opinions that conflict with our norm, but that aren't inflammatory.

#BreakTheBubble
The terms "filter bubble" and "echo chamber" are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same.

We explain the differences between these two terms here scienceupfirst.com/misinformati...

I reflect on a speech from Aga Khan IV where he mentions that many "confuse liberty with license", and the recognition that "freedom of expression is an incomplete value unless it is used honorably".

How do we maintain this balance between liberty and license in Bluesky?

New study appears to show that the reaction to gluten in those without coeliac disease may be governed by the brain knowing it's having gluten and expecting to have a reaction 🧠🍞

So could falsely advertising bread as gluten free actually be good for consumers? 🤔

The combination of expectancy and actual gluten intake had the largest effect on gastrointestinal symptoms, reflecting a nocebo effect, although an additional effect of gluten cannot be ruled out. Our...

"Unlike the brain, the stomach alerts you when it's empty"-African proverb

After I chuckled, it dawned on me that our brains too must signal that it needs to be nourished, and that ignoring it leads us down the road to burnout.
How do we better hear the brain's hunger pangs before it's too late?
