I totally agree, the misinformation has been decades in the making. It's why I completely support legislation against spread of lies and misinformation by politicians both provincially and federally.

One can only hope.

It's also an education problem/ misinformation problem. Albertans bought the BS around the National Energy program of Pierre Trudeau, and became entrenched. Subsequent Premiers have built on that anger of misinformation to further their political fortunes, and stoked anti Canada sentiment.

As I have been arguing, the policy outcomes are less important than the political ones: legitimation of Alberta as a distinct, sovereign actor entitled to special treatment, and legitimation of alleged grievances.

The attempt to placate will only embolden, because the goal isn't compromise.

What needs to happen for all Canadians is ensuring the physical land we inhabit is healthy. Without a healthy planet, we won't have anything. It's no different then our personal health, without it,life is so much harder, and our perspectives change as to what is important.

Abandoning the #EmissionsCap on Canada's worst corporate polluters is betrayal of the trust Canadians had put in the federal government to act on emissions and of those who travelled to Ottawa to call for a cap.

Canada gives them a $34B pipeline, that they haven't filled, and they hate on Canada. They love on taking away rights with repeated use of the notwithstanding clause, and a potential $500m from the US to break apart Canada. The two faces of Danielle Smith

The a curate price for industrial carbon tax is $400 a ton, not a $130, without a guarantee that Alberta will increase to $170 to meet targets. They don't come close. Add in the day for methane, rolling back clean electricity, this is not progress.

BC adopted climate change earlier then the federal govt. Pm Carney has secured a decline in climate policy, carbon capture only comes with a pipeline. It is not progress.

Or he saved the two faces of Smith, she changed legislation to make it easier for separatists to get a referendom to become the 51st stare, her legislation of a sovereign Alberta in Canada, and her dismissal of the Forever Canada petiotion. Will this keep Smith in power, regardless of the recalls?
November 28, 2025 at 3:04 PM
But Alberta, with Smith, will go to dirty electricity, no more caps, and do nothing for the environment. Like holding Oil and gas responsible for cleaning up dead wells. We will have more of this, with more fires and floods, and Canadians will pay the price.

If this is supposed to be nation building, it sure is dividing a lot of Canadians.

Canada has also subsidized their oil and gas and electricity by selling it to them at a lower then market value. So lets charge at Market value!
