AMERICANS showed up late to WWII, but we did show up and we've never stopped bragging like we alone saved the whole world.

Has anyone considered how utterly insufferable we get to be after we celebrate our 250th by having a second revolution against tyranny?

AMERICA, BABY.

So weird how, according to my search results, you are literally the one and only person on all of Bluesky talking about this.

True Fact: Atheist prayers are more powerful. 😉

We keep a few in the yard, there's one in the whole bunch of them who has a gentle enough temperament that he might have been a good pet, if I had been able to find a home for him. I did ask. No takers. Now he's a grown boy who hasn't had enough human handling. We can pet him, but he ain't a pet.

Not a sports ball person, so the television scheduling has never been a thing I paid attention to before, but... switching services mid-game sounds like a new, extra low.

I won't feed chicken to chickens because it icks me out, but I will give them bacon. I save the bacon grease, too, and mix it with scratch and powdered eggshell to make treat balls for the birds. Chickens LOVE it.

Chickens are NOT vegetarians. Ever see what happens to live mice in a chicken yard?

Any pig breed under 300lbs is "mini" because that's half the size of meat hog breeds. There's no such thing as a healthy adult pig under 75lbs. Those "mini pigs" are BABIES and the people selling them with promises they don't get over 20 pounds are unscrupulous LIARS.

This is why the meat scraps go the the chickens and the eggs go to the pigs. Aside from the avoidance of cannibalism, a chicken with a taste for flesh isnt nearly as threatening as a 300-pound "mini" pig with jaws that crunch whole corn cobs like Cheetos.

The pigs absolutely would eat us.

The last pig we slaughtered absolutely HATED me. She was neutral to friendly with my spouse, but me? She once trashed her water bucket- absolutely tore it up, smashed it violently, while making perfect unbroken eye contact with me to express "this would be you, if I could get over the barricade"

i have met a number of pigs, including pigs i later went on to eat (we have small farmers in our family) and quite frankly, getting to know pigs has made me feel even less bad about eating them

they would 100% eat us if given the chance

...sorry for the non-sequitor, I lost the plot and thought we were talking in a different thread.

Yeah, fortunately we got those toxic personalities out of our group early on and the organization went on to do many great things with a variety of partner orgs while the splinter group of ideological purists has a hard time finding coalition partners because they are loud, controlling assholes.

Yeah, the kids who have every reason to legitimately fear being the generation drafted to fight WW3 is really not into jokes about it, I've noticed.

Me: Gonna just keep my comments to myself today and mind my own damn business.

Rando Internet Jackhole: "Haha, rural/southern people so dumb"

Me: Well, sometimes bitches gotta be set straight.

Its the blaring alarm of someone having the worst day of their life- stroke or car accident or whatever- and the fact that hearing this constant screaming wail of human misery isnt stressful for y'all is because city folk are so lacking in empathy. (See, stereotypes work two ways!)
saint-did.bsky.social
Dude, rural address doesn't make people dumber. We aren't "scared" of ambulances we just aren't accustomed to hearing them constantly because population density being what it is, we hear them only once every couple months and we aren't completely numbed by exposure to the loud, distressing sound.

...and several potential alliances were rejected because people insisted on complete ideological alignment from everyone with an overlapping interest in fighting facism.

Scope. A single person or organization can't fight on every front. Someone wanted our local library advocacy group to have a stance on Gaza, I said "unless the genocide is happening in a public library in our state, its a wee bit outside the scope of our mission" and hooboy did THAT ruffle feathers.
saint-did.bsky.social
Yeah, unprecedented corruption probably requires unprecedented resistance. The federal government is in shambles, and establishment Dems are like the cartoon character coasting through a cloud of wreckage clinging to a steering wheel.

Oh, in that case, carry on. I thought you were unironically criticizing her, but if you were highlighting the ridiculousness of belittling public figures for publicly figuring the wrong way because they didn't magically, single-handedly fix everything after NOT getting elected, cool.

We have a proud tradition in America of former presidents and candidates fucking off during their opponents' terms because that's a big chunk of the peaceful transfer of power- there's only one president at a time. The fact is, Harris is doing exactly as much as required of anyone else in her place.

You say "be out there" but she is out there, promoting her book. You say "she should say something", but I bet she said a lot of things in the book she is promoting.

...or did you want her to cart her ass around the country repeating all her words in small soundbites for you for free? 🙄

There ARE protests. Everywhere. Even my rural, deep red MAGA county in Alabama can muster several dozens to attend protests. There's challenges to the incumbents in my district for the first time in decades.

Most Americans are still hoping to use the mechanisms of democracy in midterms before war

*this might not be true, but I'm still unpacking the guilt of being relieved when her dementia makes her easier to deal with because she can't track the plot long enough to manipulate drama anymore.

I sympathize! I can tell when she's feeling better, because she's nicer when she's off (probably because she's aware she's confused and guarding with her nice mask) but when she's feeling better she tries to start shit like always. "You're being ornery today, I'm glad* you're feeling better, Ma."

...no, they spent DECADES building a corporate allyship that evaporated in a poof of insincerity the second it was inconvenient to them and I want a full-throated apology and some groveling, and I want that groveling to become sincere begging as their stocks continue to plummet. Fuck 'em.
