Yup. Warren didn't have Italian-style pizza until I was in my teenage years. A New York style place, Samantha's, opened up and was fantastic but closed down due to reasons.

They finally got Federal Hill Pizza, a Neopolitan place, in 2005, when I was in college.

Things started to change in 2006, 2007, with the aftermath of the 2008 industry crash turbo-charging its evolution. The recent hyper-corporatizing that started in 2017 with Sony buying Funimation really feels like industry carcinization.

I joined the anime media in 2002. It was a vastly different world back then. Far less corporate, less pressure, fewer hoops to jump through across the board

We all try to keep the magic alive, but it feels like a lot of forces are at work against us today that weren't there before

Jim Lee openly disparaging AI in no way guarantees anything, no one knows what the future of AI is and no one knows who will be in charge at DC Comics down the line. But I think it's important that a popular artist publicly shot AI down. Fans and artists ignorant of or using AI need to hear this.
