Thank you!

I know so little about soviet cinema, so it's great to see recommendations.

The whole notion of the “lost cause” and the talk of “our heritage” is the worst. Glossing over the horrors of chattel slavery with images of a genteel American aristocracy. Typical bourgeoisie dressing up brutal capitalism.

I had an ex who was way into this movie. I was forced to watch the theatrical re-release in the 90s and on video.

While there are many amazing film making moments, the plot and characters are not great. Even in the 90s it was apparent how blatant the whitewashing was.

Pro slavery propaganda.

But are you really free if you can’t fire a gun in your own back yard?

Literally blowing up cell phones and pagers indiscriminately. One of the most callous acts of terrorism I’ve witnessed.

Everyone has long forgotten and moved on.

It’s one reason I enjoyed Game Of Thrones so much. The fantasy was minimal. And it ramped slowly.

When a book starts off with a multitude of existing creatures, I feel like I’m reading a D&D manual.

I wish I could set aside disbelief and just enjoy. But it just starts feeling like work.

I won’t say the author, but the book seemed promising at first.

But this is the risk with fantasy eh.

Anyone recommend a good book?

I just finished a book by Elisabeth Brink, after reading one under her pseudonym Liz Tully and have ordered two more under her other pseudonym Elisabeth Elo.

While I wait for those to get here, I’m dying to find another book.

I started one and immediately it’s like nails on a chalkboard.

Dyslexia meant it was a chore to read and I didn’t enjoy it at all (outside comics) until college.

As an adult, if I feel bored, listless or confused in the first 20 pages, I’m out.

I also cannot read novels written in present tense. Full stop.

All this makes it tough to find authors I like.

The book was apparently written mostly by Herman.

Chomsky has been sus for a long time.

I read him and Parenti in college and it became quite clear that Parenti was the real deal and Chomsky was more of a grifter.

Fast forward to some of the garbage takes Chomskys had the last couple decades and it’s clear he’s been coasting.

Watch the early seasons of Sesame Street

This is a kid show, and they incorporated the way New York looked at the time.

Trash in the streets, vagrant, etc.

Siphoning gas from peoples cars was a thing that happened in the 70s during the energy crisis.

I would bet good money that Parenti did not fly on Epsteins plane.
