And if arguing over stuffed animal technicalities doesn’t do it for you, just look up how disrespectful the show has been of an heirloom craft like fair isle knitting.

“This is not amigurumi with smiley faces, this is serious amigurumi” is so…paternalistic? Judgemental? Dismissive? of the actual craft. I would argue that amigurumi that is not “cute” in some way is not generally representative of amigurumi.

Amigurumi is not a trend, it is a technique. You cannot knit amigurumi, it is inherently a crochet technique - though of course adorable small things can be knitted, but they’re not amigurumi.

Oh my god I’m losing my mind about the amigurumi episode. fiber arts are crafts that ppl put tremendous effort into & this show presents itself as an authority on while sloppily getting basic, simple facts willfully wrong to the point that you have to assume there was a choice made at some point.
