Yes - I wouldn't expect TRAP in 'magic' to vary.. I've had a happy time listening to Grimsby accents on TikTok though to check, but so far noone has said 'magic' so, who knows? 😂

Today I made this plot (among other things)
A pitch contours plot showing the shape of pitch rise at the end of questions in Cairene Egyptian Arabic, on words with different numbers of syllables, and with the stress on different syllables of the word. The rise typically starts at the beginning of the stressed syllable then carries on rising towards the end of the utterance. There are some dinks in the rise along the way in some cases, but those can mostly be explained by the properties of the sounds in the word, such as a fully voiced /d/ between two vowels, that depresses the F0 contour due to voicing during the closure.

Ach - I'm sorry you've had bad news after bad. It won't be personal, though it will feel like it is. I hope you can take a break in the next two weeks.
