Today in York. Dodging the city's worst flood water. Supping on the city's finest beer water.

Yesterday, had the thrill of my livery design work unveiled on the famed turntable in the Great Hall at the National Railway Museum, celebrating 50 years of this great institution, on an @lner.co.uk Class 91. Huge thanks to @gawuffy.co.uk for the incredible effort to bring the design to the rails!

When in Knaresborough... a pint and a Turbostar. Nice beer, noisy company! 🍻😉👍

Aaaannddd relax. The start of another (very long) camper weekend is ahead - from our first stop at Poolsbrook near Chesterfield, we're bound for Knaresborough, Harrogate and York. Have a great weekend all! ☀️😎👏👍

Just discovered the name of the local farm round the corner from where I live. Should I be worried? Or rather, should my innie be worried? #severance

It's cool, it's colourful, it's Kukenhoef... the power of flowers, looking stunning in the Dutch sunshine 🇳🇱☀️💐

Uuuuuu-trecht... what a beauty of a city! ☀️😎👍

Bye bye Blightly! Off on a week of Dutch/Belgian adventures... unfortunately not likely to feature too many trains but I'm sure I can squeeze a one or two in here or there... 🇳🇱🇧🇪☀️🚢👍

I'm a big fan of brave and different transport design, and this is different. And brave. And frankly, more than a little bit stunning.

There's something about that Condor livery, when their aircraft are all lined up like this, it just looks... where'd I put my "chef's kiss" emoji?

Been desperate to get my hands on one of these so finally!... an OO gauge Hornby version of my Virgin NRM40 livery, from 10 years ago.

Loved designing this loco, the reaction it got from the press and public, and paying tribute to 40 years of the fantastic National Railway Museum!

Flashback to when red, radical 225s ruled the roost at KGX. As much as I miss my design days at Virgin Trains, it's heartening to know there's new brands and new faces (plus new trains) taking the industry to new creative places. And heck, that 225 does look good in its new/retro LNER outfit, too 😎😉

Endlessly waiting for the summer, for more road tripping adventures with my two favourite things in the world... my camper and my wife (not necessarily in that order btw!) 🚐🌤😎👍

March 2016 (8 yrs ago) my photo of the first Azuma to receive any form of branding, rolling out of North Pole depot (not your usual ECML location!)

A red and racy launch livery designed by yours truly; shape elements of which still exist in the current Azuma livery, minus the "V" word of course 😉

My wife is knitting every day in March to raise money for Alzheimers Research. She made me socks. Pineapple-coloured socks. They are awesome. And so is my wife. ❤️👍

Digging through files for a design project today, I happened across this little gem - back from when East Midlands Trains was becoming East Midlands Railway, I had a personal attempt at a logo/icon which could work for the new brand, while bringing back the 'stag' iconography of Midland Mainline 👍

Yep, looks pretty darn smart to me. Subtle changes to allow for modern visibility compliance, but still a absolutely cracking effort. Well done Southeastern, a nice way to celebrate an iconic rolling stock, colour scheme and Rail 200 too! 🔴🔵⚪️👍

Today's FB memory from 2016... the Virgin launch of a new "Flying Scotsman" alongside the original steamy version, in the big glass shed at King's Cross. Was proud to be a key part of the team that delivered VTEC's Scotsman, and nice to know 91101 still carries the rather fetching nameplate too!

A thing of beauty... lovely work (launched yesterday) from New York's Metro-North Railroad, bringing the original New Haven scheme to a modern loco - the fifth in the company's heritage fleet - they've also got one in the iconic 1954 "NH" New Haven livery too 🇺🇲 😎 👍

Well, Liverpool was loverly. Highly recommended for a British city break. Lots to see, fascinating history, good food, friendly folks, and really not that expensive. It was boss, la.

When in Liverpool... all together now...

🎶 We all ride on a (swiss-built, darth-vader-styled, thoroughly-modern, quiet-and-smooth) yellow Merseyrail train, a yellow Merseyrail train, a yellow Merseyrail train 🎶

(with musical apologies to McCartney and co... and my fellow passengers)

Scouse street art. It's proper boss.

Lovely building sighted. Correction... Liver-ly building sighted.

...carrying over 20 million passengers per year. Unfortunately, the declining Liverpool docks and worn-out infrastructure saw the system close in 1956. The Museum of Liverpool is home to the very last coach from the LOR, and a fascinating exhibition on its history, fame and eventual decline...

A cheeky weekend in Liverpool has gifted me the chance to dig into a bit of unique railway history, the Liverpool Overhead Railway. Opened in 1893 and running for 7 miles along Liverpool's iconic Mersey, it was the second electric metro system in the world and hugely popular in its heyday...
