#OTD we abolished many forms of slavery. but we must keep in mind that the 13th created loopholes that permit slavery & exploitation via prison systems. forced labor, of any kind, is anathema to our values as americans. we must protect the rights of our most vulnerable, including the incarcerated!
On Dec. 6, 1865, the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, abolishing slavery, was ratified as Georgia became the 27th state to endorse it.
