A small fire at the front of the bookshop was started last night after rubbish bags that were awaiting collection were set on fire. The guards don’t have reason at this time to believe it was a targeted attack. Thankfully the damage was limited and everyone is safe. We are open for business as usual

The whole idea of the latte levy was to incentivise customers to choose re-usable cups instead of disposable ones. How would it do that if they don't obviously, clearly see themselves paying it when they get a disposable cup, because it is just rolled into a price rise by cup producers or retailers?

Is the latte levy dead? "The Department of Climate, Environment and Energy said a levy was still possible but rather than ask customers to pay it at the till, it would be imposed on cup producers or retailers who could then pass the cost on to customers." www.irishtimes.com/ireland/2025...

The council has found ways around parts of minister's new lower apartment standards, an official says. In some Dublin city neighbourhoods, the mix of apartments and the requirement for community and arts space will still be governed by the city’s development plan, he says.
