Hello #kidlitartpostcard!
I’m an illustrator looking for fun projects that may involve mythical creatures as characters.

🎃31 Days of Halloween Books🎃

Day 4: BONY-LEGS by Joanna Cole & Dirk Zimmer

Why I 🖤 it: Published in 1983, this book is hard to find. A retelling of Baba Yaga, it is eerie & dark in a way only a 40 year old children's book can be. In the end, though, kindness prevails.

I love the older version on the right too but the posing feels stiff, the composition is straight ahead and the colors are a lot more saturated. I’d love some inputs or feedback from others about which style they are drawn to discounting the fact that the current one is still unfinished. (2/2)

I’m re-drawing an old piece I made a few years ago and experimenting with a slightly different composition and coloring technique. I’m loving the process and it feels closer to how I like to build up colors like watercolors. #procreate #illustration #kidlitart cont.. (1/2)
An illustration in progress showing two kids in nature. A girls looks through her magnifying glass at the ground in front of her where mushrooms grow. Behind her, a boy stands with his back facing us while he peeks through a telescope at the skies. An illustration showing two kids in nature. I love having my cats give me company when I’m drawing 🥰. This was yesterday when I was working on a design submission. Sent in this morning with fingers crossed!

I was inspired to #draw a #Harpy - a mythical creature that is usually described as a bird with a woman’s head. However I took liberties with my version. I’d love some feedback on what legs go better on this creature though!

It’s often pointed out how people don’t read anymore, how social media has broken our attention spans, and our capacity for critical thinking.

BUT, also, there are still a TON of avid readers in the world, of ALL ages. I know many of them. Let’s not forget to celebrate, and take comfort in, that.

Sharing a couple of #sketchbook pages from June and July this year. One is an #observationalsketch of my mom with her tablet sitting by the window along with one of my cats. Another cat captured in a tiny #watercolor doodle and a page of deer #sketches inspired by a local news article
A small watercolor doodle of a cat with a cat toy and below that is an observational drawing of an elderly woman next to a large window accompanied by a cat on the stool in front of her. A page of deer sketches explored in an assortment of poses and angles

When I'm discouraged, I feel a desire to try to lift someone else's spirits. I received a "thanks but no thanks" email today, so here's a reminder to all who need to it: Rejection is tough, but living with the knowledge that you didn't try is worse. Your work, and your efforts, matter, my friends.

Happy Saturday! Been relaxing and experimenting with the digital coloring process on procreate for characters. It's been a while since I got a chance to unwind and do this!

Thank you! I loved reading this affirming response <3
I don't feel as bad about forgetting to post art now but I suppose I could make a better effort at human interaction. 😊 💕
