I had a discussion mid-1970s with some Berber labourers:

How many children do most couples have?
Five or six.
So many?
Maybe half of them die, so yes.

Better conditions now, I presume.

As, no doubt, is everyone else who lives in that area.

How ???????

One of my Irish relations went there a little earlier, and some of Patrick Lynch's (1720–1763) descendents are still around.

I had others who went to South Africa - mid 19th c. They escaped a famine, being able to get away early.

Relatively straightforward when the image is so clear. 1/6.

There are a lot of horse movies out there, though their riders tended to wear at least one revolver!

True, though there are so few movies where at the end everybody sits down at the table to eat dinner together I'd have to include Don't Look Up as *the* Christmas movie for our times.

Not really my area. The only thing that comes up with the big names were recordings made for specific appeals, Live Aid and the like. There were quite a few of those drawing artists together for a purpose.

There was certainly 'Two-tone', if that's what you're looking for. It encompassed a range of multi-racial bands in Britain, often Ska style.

Just ask the sparrow. An innocent bird in the masculine, but in the feminine it adds a whole new layer !!

Well done. A personal gold star for me was teaching Italian police officers to use f**k and f**king correctly, as this was especially difficult for them in constructing questions. But they got it right - all around the class!

"What the f**k are you f**king looking at?"

Just cooked a large Ratatouille de Languedoc this morning. My operating principle has always been to clean-as-you-go so that the endtime of cleaning coincides with the endtime of cooking.

The details on the ground made this fun. 2/6.

Sounds right. I always use two pans when making a stew, and certainly want to fry off the onions separately.

Currently watching Chef's Table: Legends - Thomas Keller.

That certainly sounds credible.

They had ten good years, really.

Also 1/6.
Also subscribed.

Is this a reference to Our-Your-(but not you)-Party?
November 30, 2025 at 1:28 PM
Ah, but will it be held in a backroom with just 3 attendees?

I fail to understand how anyone could see competing as more beneficial than cooperating and collaborating.

Indeed. 😆👍
