After all the heartbreak and horror of the world this week - a reminder of why Canada, and the idea of Canada, really matters. We aren’t trying to be great again - just trying to make a better country, every day. Sending this out with love and hope. #Canada #cdnpoli #ElbowsUp #Alberta #refugees

"It wasn't used enough". The epidemic changed: consumption switched from injection to inhalation. Instead of adapting the SCS to include inhalation, they said "yOU cAn'T SMokE iN a HOSpiTal". Guess what - people just smoked (and overdosed) in hospital bathrooms.

Systems achieve what they are designed to achieve.
"The Minister’s office is suggesting that record frostbite amputation surgeries are somehow good news. In what world is amputating a finger or a foot an ‘improved outcome for vulnerable Albertans’!?”

Edmonton's frostbite amputations went up, again.

It's a new record high, again.

More than half of patients were unhoused, again.

And frostbite diagnoses not only reached a new high, but had the biggest single-year increase in the AHS data I have, going back to 2011.

CONDOLANCES to my colleagues and the patients in the Edmonton Area.

They seem to be breaking overcrowding records everyday in Edmonton.

Last night the RAH ED had over 100 (ONE HUNDRED!) pts waiting in its waiting room.

Just try to imagine that...

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, I hope Albertans will remember that trans kids and teens are living breathing humans who just want to be themselves, without fear of hate and discrimination. Demonizing kids merely to score political points in some weird culture war is craven and cruel.

Thank you Alberta! And thank you to all the passionate volunteers and organizers for bringing some light into these gloomy times.
456,365 #ForeverCanadian signatures (plus few dozen last minute arrivals). I’m told it’s the biggest petition in Canada’s history.

None of this would happen if not for thousands of volunteers and your love for Canada.🇨🇦

Thank you! This is Alberta’s and Canada’s victory.

Every Albertan should be outraged.
Our govt just rammed thru a full on attack on our constitutional rights.
If they’ll do this to our teachers, nobody’s constitutional rights will be safe.
This cannot be allowed to stand.

Let's break down why all of AB should care about large EDs being severely overcrowded 🧵 :

The two EDs with the worst Left Without Being Seen (LWBS) numbers are in Edmonton Zone (w all of the EDs in the zone struggling).

AB still has no CMOH, and still no active and robust PH public campaigns... the PH leadership is completely absent by govt design.

We need to do better Alberta - it affects everyone of us.
