Not well at the moment. My baby girl sent a daisy up to me with her big sister. She’s not one for sentimental gestures usually.

Massive thanks @mrjamesob.bsky.social for talking about ‘A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court’ this morning! I’ve been trying to remember the name of this film for a while now -and now, I am watching the Michael York version, so very happy.I’m sure it’s why I’m like I am. I loved it as a kid.

Been off @bsky.app whilst i finished my book. It’s turned political. Where have the cats and books gone? Why did you bring the outside into this beautiful sacred place. We know it’s bad. That’s why we are here. We know what they are doing. This was the haven from it

What about putting a trans female into the toilets where all these predators are? Is that safer? Or does she somehow deserve or ask for trouble? How about trans men, where do they go? Does he know they exist as well or are they ok? How about we let people use bathrooms in peace? Same with disabled.
Trump in 2016 on anti-trans bathroom bills: Leave it the way it is right now. There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is....There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go. They use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble.

How Did Bubonic Plague (Black Death) Actually End?
It was seen by almost 5 million people...
Can you see the first error already?

I did six references into my end notes today before I broke and had to come back to bed, but I did remember to email myself my work AND had a really lovely conversation with @turiking.bsky.social about a box of bones.

All with Astra sat on my knee eating a dippy egg.

Xmas has started:
5 year old doesn’t believe in Santa, wants ‘peace and quiet’ off him for Xmas & the Nativity story is ‘so funny. Babies don’t want sheep presents’.

My eldest refused to believe as he ‘never published his success criteria’, and has to smell the decorations before they go up.

This is what home education looks like here:

1) many trips to wales, to collect rocks and to visit castles.

2) Big one comes with me to exciting things as they’re my carer and so is my voice, gopher and responsible adult

3) working together or side by side with small one

4) exploring the arts

And, whilst on the subject, why didn’t the seven education secretaries change it when they could?

My homeschooled teen is now in FE and has a job. They make tea, use a bank app, cook for the family, talk to all ages, do the gardening, do a grocery shop, do their own wash

Listening to talk about education on @mrjamesob.bsky.social and never been more certain that I did the right thing home educating my kids.

I left teaching in 1998 and there was no way they were taking my child’s spirit too, and I pulled her out of the same school I’d taught at in 2018.

“Elfshot” is my preferred term for fibromyalgia. An Anglo-Saxon way of describing a condition which felt like you’d been shot by lots of elf arrows.

With the invention of the motor engine though, it could be updated to ‘Elf Shot, and then reversed over by an elf truck’

I woke up with so many plans. Fibromyalgia has the upper hand today unfortunately. I was hoping I would finish my end notes before it started getting too hard to deal with 🥹 Time to get the laptop out instead of the desktop, and strategically placed cushions so I can write in bed!

Today marks four years since the consultation on a #PavementParking ban in England - and we're still waiting for action. Disabled campaigner and journalist Katie Pennick says:

"In this photo you can see what happens when parking places are put on the pavement. My wheelchair does not fit!"

Had to call someone back and they asked me my name. I went off on a long story about how that basically depended on who they were, how long is been waiting for the appointment and which child it was for…it was for the one which had also changed their name since, which bares no connection to mine.

Smug time:I’ve excelled myself today! I have done all my Christmas shopping apart from chocs and booze.

I have also bought this to start my five year olds training.

#Coventry Charterhouse from the air! I believe the garden is planted to show where the monks cells were (Carthusian’s lived almost in total isolation in a single cell). The Priors house (top left) is sometimes open to the public, and would be where the rectory and guests were. Photo by my husband 🦋

Doing something very similar myself and also avoiding things which will stress me out. Aka politics
One thing I am going to do differently on Bluesky is, over the months, follow a wider range of people, including people I don’t know/have never met.

If you get a random follow, don’t think it weird. It’s probably because you’ve got a dog in your profile pic or mentioned a band I like in your bio 🙃

Whereas the historians have been watching through their fingers with their heads in their hands muttering about the Weimar Republic for ten years or so now!
I often think about how this time is gonna be described in history books…

If you were me and you looked like this (green dress), and you already had the black fabric to make the Knights Hospitaller nun outfit, would you entirely abandon it to make a Spanish infanta inspired dress instead? And would you make your teenager walk next to you translating?

Just my 2 cents. But my goal is to ignore the trolls. Give them zero attention. Block them if they annoy me.

I think the worst thing we can do on this site is re-create the ad hominem/ personal attacks that occur across comments on Twitter/insta/tiktok/ etc
