Autocrat anoints son:
"Brazilian Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro, the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, said Friday that his father decided he should represent their political group and run for president in 2026."
Bolsonaro's eldest son says he'll run for Brazil presidency in 2026
He will challenge President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is running for a fourth nonconsecutive term, as the candidate of Bolsonaro’s Liberal Party.

None of this makes sense, but we know how Trump gets dumb ideas stuck in his mind for years. We know he’s been clamoring for Venezuela’s oil since 2017 and Stephen Miller has been wanting to bomb these boats since 2018.
Here’s a thread on how an attempt on Venezuelan oil could go horribly wrong. I watched it happen in Colombia for years. Now add cheap drone technology to the mix & that oil infrastructure becomes EXTREMELY vulnerable to sabotage. Refineries & storage tanks weren’t designed to withstand attacks.💥💥🔥🔥
Colombian guerrillas would just drive along the road & shoot holes into the pipeline. They would then start a huge blaze with a flare. It was extremely destructive to the environment & poisoned streams. The pipelines had to parallel the road for servicing reasons, so it was impossible to protect. 3/

Indeed. These are no more “narco-terrorists” than Al Capone & his bootlegging associates were “alco-terrorists.” Prohibition-era gangsters were capable of extreme violence, but labeling them terrorists & hitting them with bombs would’ve been a silly way to address our insatiable demand for alcohol.

Contrast the video above with my 2009 mini-documentary “Shoveling Water” about the futility of forced coca crop eradication. Drug warriors are going to demand a return to aerial spraying and mass environmental destruction and they must be stopped.
I worked for 15 years to stop aerial eradication of coca crops using glyphosate (Roundup). We finally succeeded in 2015 after drug warriors sprayed millions of acres. Forced drug crop eradication is as effective as shoveling water. If you want to learn why, watch my old documentary of the same title

I first stepped foot in Colombia 25 years ago. President Petro is the first Colombian head of state to acknowledge the utter bankruptcy of the old drug war model. He initiated many changes. but his term is soon ending. I can only hope they don’t turn back the clock after his term. 👀

Super awkward that Hegseth is trying to court martial Sen. Mark Kelly for basically saying the same thing:

“You’re not just gonna follow that order if it’s unlawful,” Hegseth said in a March 2016 appearance on “Fox & Friends.”
