it’s fun to remind the youth of today who were too young to remember it unfolding in real time about how the minute Obama became a viable presidential contender, the brains of every individual on the entire American right simply turned into scrambled eggs and they have never even partially recovered

Makes me want to scream sometimes. I was raised on 1970s PBS and — God forbid — I actually believed what Sesame Street and the Electric Company and Mr. Rogers told me about kindness and empathy and being part of a community that welcomed all kinds and colors of people.
