Ah, makes sense. Yeah it's nigh impossible to replicate the physicality of playing IRL in a digital game.
For me it was always the excitement of opening a new card and thinking about all the possibilities to build around it. So I just made my own single-player card-game to chase that high lol

I feel you on PvP digital TCGs, but what about a self-contained single-player card game adventure?
Yeah, it's tough. I originally marketed my game as a RL, but then some players complained that it wasn't (since it has levels of permanent progression).
So I changed it to a "single player adventure," but I still sometimes hear complaints about how it *is* a RL. Genres can be weird and nebulous!

Culex definitely inspired the "hidden final boss" in my game.

One of my favorite games! I had to call the Nintendo Power hotline back in the day because I couldn't figure out how to get to the treasure chest with the moon pearl 😆
