It just occurred to me that Aristotle has a distressing amount of similarities to Elon.

Are you sure you’re not my long lost twin? I am starting to wonder 🤨😁

Given the fact that my posts about the French settlers of Louisiana tend to get the most traction, I thought I should reiterate that I myself am not Cajun. I married an amazing woman who is and I try to support her when it comes to dealing with her dying culture.
A part of that is spreading the

This has been bothering me. When I first started learning to weave it was on an inkle loom and one of the most common styles was pebble which is South American in origin. Now, 20 years latter, I can barely find a reference to this style as it has all been replaced by krokbard which is a Norwegian

I am four books away from being “caught up” on “current lore” for 40k. Right now I am only hanging in there for the off chance of Trazyn in The Great work.
I have listened to two hours of my current book and all I have is 1. Space marines can become primaris if they want. 2. 1 vaguely recognize

1. Weaving. It is my favorite thing to do.

2. Oregon powdered vanilla chai mix. It is hard to find in Louisiana but I am as happy a kid given a candy bar every time I find it.

3. My life. I know it has its ups and downs, and my brain and immune system are actively trying to kill me, but I am good.
This post accidentally provoked a kind of cool thing. Let's keep it rolling! Tell me about things you like! I will start:

1) Chinese Food
2) 80s and 90s dancehall reggae
3) Leeds United Football Club
We've really gotta normalize talking about things we like as much as what we don't

I go back to work tomorrow after my third leg surgery from my motorcycle accident. I am both happy to be going back and kinda scared for no good reason. Still in a wheelchair for another month.

[Indomitius] finished Part 2 and that was entertaining. Part 3 starts off with a “why can’t I just shoot him?” Conversation that includes a “if the wet hen over there say it’s not technically illegal than it is obviously fine!”

The incompetent Marines commander is named Aeschylus of all things.
August 10, 2024 at 5:31 PM
[Indomitius] lmao! So it is about the discovery of the Pariah Nexus by a group of Ultramarines, but it is utterly hilarious to me how as the two sides engage they are both having massive “who the fuck are these guys!?” Moments.
August 9, 2024 at 11:03 PM
[indomitius] Part 2 is much better than part one. I am really enjoying that both the Necrons and the Ultramarines have leaders their far more competent underlings have to work around.

I am thinking the Necron is going to get them killed, and the Ultramarine is going to start listening.

[indomitius] oh! Hey! Starting to sound like this one might have something to do with the Pariah Nexus! Fingers crossed

[regent’s Shadow] fyi, no one named any variation of Moloch is a good guy. Ever. In any genre.
August 9, 2024 at 5:39 PM
[indomitius] part 1 …bolter porn/ ship battle. The usual highlighting of the arrogance that humans in this setting have made into a truly fine art. Part 2 Opens with Necrons! Okay! Let’s see if this guy can write Necrons.
August 9, 2024 at 5:39 PM
[Indomitius] please don’t be Bolter porn! Please don’t be Bolter Porn.

Bonus if we can get another drive by by Trazyn, but I suspect I am going to have to wait until The Great Work for that.

*Deep Breath* okay! Diving in!

[Regent’s Shadow] finished! I loved it! I really enjoy Chris Wraight’s writing and his twists are well set up but in the only obvious on second reading kinda way.

Plus I like the focus on the “others” in this settings and how he brings in their cultural baggage.

Next Up: Indomitus

[Regent’s Shadow] I officially like every High Lord of Assassins I have read about in 40k. They are all cynical bastards who are still fundamentally optimists.
August 9, 2024 at 3:15 PM
[regent’s shadow] my headphones need to be recharged. Not bitching as much cause there really isn’t much to bitch AT. I do love how these watcher of the throne books make Gilliman seem more sketchy. The book is written from three different points of view of people who have to clean up his mess.
August 8, 2024 at 10:09 PM
[Regent’s Shadow] Okay, for the record, I just don’t trust Gilliman. He seems to me to be the walking embodiment of Hubris for all his put upon martyr attitude.

PLUS! He makes the exact same beeping mistake as the Regent from The War of The Beast! I am assuming with similar results. I mean buddy,

[Regent’s Shadow] Already a much better book! However every time I come across the phrase “Age of Wonder” my mind continues “This land was green and good, until the Crystal Cracked.” Then starts up Trip Like I Do off of Vegas.

This is the list of anyone else is interested.

[knights of Maccragge] finished! That HAD to be a prelude to Something as otherwise I have no clue why it was in the “books to read to get current with the new lore” list.

next: The Regents Shadow! I have enjoyed everything I have read by this author so I am hopeful for an actual good book!
August 8, 2024 at 4:15 PM
[Knights of Maccragge] haha! Was right! Necrons!

So I am guessing at this stage that this is all gonna tie into the Pariah Nexus somehow.
