Staying in St. Simons instead would put you in reach of Savannah to the north and a day trip via ferry to Cumberland Island to the south. Wild horses, mansion ruins...the best destination in the area. Great restaurants in St. Simons as well -- Georgia Sea Grill, The Nest on SSI.
