Just saw The Last Class film about @rbreich.bsky.social last semester teaching at @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social. Very inspirational and insightful. Highly recommend it!
Many thanks to folks in Los Angeles who attended a SOLD OUT screening of "The Last Class" — @imcivicaction.bsky.social's new film about my final semester of teaching. It was so great getting to meet and speak with you.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

In less than 3 months of Trump 2.0, per JP Morgan, US economy forecast going from 2% growth to contraction in 2H25. And look at "arch enemy" China. No change in forecast whatsoever, despite tariffs. These policies, as many have said, are to China's advantage.
JPMORGAN: “.. Trump 2.0 remains on track to deliver one of the largest US tax hikes on record .. Our revised US forecast sees 4Q/4Q GDP at 0% (vs. -0.3% before) but still has two quarters of contraction (-0.5%ar in 2H25), the unemployment rate above 5%, and the Fed cutting to 3%.” 👀

MORE ACCURATE: U.S. stocks staged a historic rally after a historic crash self-inflicted by Trump's tariffs, which are paused, may not come back, but may, but who knows?
U.S. stocks staged a historic rally after Trump announced a 90-day pause on some tariffs and signaled a willingness to negotiate on trade. Wednesday’s surge added a record $5.1 trillion in value to the market.

The same cowardice and fear in Republican Party has taken Silicon Valley. That plus the greed, arrogance, ignorance and stupidity.
A huge swath of Silicon Valley is horrified by what Elon Musk is doing — but they’re increasingly afraid to say so.

How is that endorsement working out? "The reason he is choosing Trump over President Joe Biden boils down primarily to one major issue — he believes Trump’s policies are much more favorable for tech, specifically for the startup ecosystem."

If you have a Republican representing you in the House or Senate, call them to demand they undo Trump's tariffs.

They're already shaken by the 20 point shift in Florida and the Wisconsin loss. You can fuel that feeling.

Hear that sound? It's the price of previously owned cars rising. Maybe that is a good thing. Keep the car you have or buy a used one, rather than pay this stupid tax on new ones.
Trump: "What we're gonna be doing is a 25 percent tariffs on all cars that are not made in the United States."

The cover-up is worse than the crime. How do people not learn this lesson? And this guy can't even do cover-up right. What he is claiming is so easily provable to be a lie. Dude, just admit you made a grievous error and accept the consequences.

Like Goldman and others, the rapid change in estimates/sentiment at JPM in layman’s terms is “Trump is f’ing up the economy.”
JPMORGAN: “ Lowering 2024 growth forecast from 1.9% to 1.6%, raising unemployment peak from 4.2% to 4.4% ..

“.. Forecast anticipates headwinds from tariff actions, weaker sentiment, and more policy uncertainty, with potential downside risk to growth after April 2.” 🇺🇸

Regardless of what happens here, I believe there will be emergent TikTok competitors. Like @flashes.blue v Instagram, or Threads/@bsky.app v Twitter/X, short form video has a lot of room for new entrants. And people have seen it is not so bad to pick up and move your followers.

WTF is wrong with @nytimes.com? This is not hard.
“Unusual.”

I mean, come on.

It is hardly unusual for Trump to ramble on about “personal grievances” and to “attack his political enemies.” It’s his essence.

Sure, he’s never done it before in the Great Hall of the Department of Justice, but that venue means nothing to him.

If I owned a Tesla, I'd sell it. The number of Tesla owners I am hearing plan to sell and buy a different brand makes me wonder if the market for previously owned Tesla will be flooded with supply, driving the resale price down. The sentiment is stunningly bad and the novelty wore off years ago.
