What makes this tapestry feel so vibrant and delicately complex is how it's as much of a fantasy world as it's a concrete in-universe place, and how characters react to and act according to their perception of it. It's dream and reality mingling and mixing together, producing most unusual results.

through deliberate narration. When she arrives at the academy, what Suoh sees is not merely something grounded in the material. She sees a rich tapestry woven from stories, memories and dreams, including those of her own. Thus her perception of the place changes, and her sense of reality with it.

This fragmeted quality of sources of inspiration for the world of FLOWERS feels incredibly apt to how it's depicted in the narrative. Especially to how we're introduced to it throughout the story. Printemps is extra astute in using it to alter the reader's perception of the place and the protagonist

As you can tell, it's Suoh's shrine, tho Google did an oopsie, bcs the correct pronunciation of 白羽 in its case is "shirowa". But do some kanji magic and boom, you arrive at "shirahane"!
