"English billionaire who bought a Scottish castle and moved to Scotland interferes with local Scottish politics so it better suits her."

We used to call this colonialism.

Day 9. 'Kyofu' (2010. dir Hiroshi Takashi)

Another strange one. Borders on surreal. Almost a lynchian quality to it. If it were released today, it'd be called "art horror" and probably be released by A24. I don't know if I liked it or even understood it, but I was definitely captivated by it.

Coincidentally "Fuck It, Can I?" works as a title for this story.

My wife did not like this skeet and asked me why I would put something like this out in the world.

It's because I refuse to bear the burden of my unhinged idle musings by myself.

If you put your smart watch to vibrate every time you received a spam e-mail, message, or phone call, you could make it a vibrating cock ring.

I'm not saying you should, I'm just saying it's an option open to you.

Oh and while I'm still on 'Dark Water' I want to add that Hitomi Kuroki and Rio Kanno (only seven years old at the time) give incredible performances in this movie. In a film like this, bad performances would have killed it but those two nailtag hashed it!

I hadn't plan for this to be a full month of J-horror and I'll run out of ones I want to watch before the end of the month, but right now I'm just really in the mood for J-horror.

I never grew out of my teenage japanophile ways.

Day 8. 'Dark Water' (2002. Hideo Nakata)

An under appreciated genre classic. A film of modern ghostly horror and heartbreak. Seriously, this film is a constant one-two punch of scares and tragedy right up to the last moments. It can make it a hard watch if you're sensitive. A brilliant piece.

Homosexual. Heterosexual. Doesn't matter. Everybody is Ardeth-sexual.

Watching 'The Mummy' and after all these years I am still in awe of just what a masterpiece this film is.

Obvously this is a joke. I would never forget what I'm searching and then just search thicc xenomorph instead. That's unhinged.

Thicc xenomorph is what I wanted to search when I opened Google.

Day 7. 'Kaidan' (2007, Hideo Nakata)

Mixed feelings on this one. It succeeds at feeling like a traditional ghost story but it's too long, padded with character drama from dull characters. Could have been a decent gothic horror, but again, characters were too dull. Swing and a miss.

We can be rather aggressive in our honesty, it's true.

The thinking behind restricting access to treatment for trans people in order to prevent "regret", is fundamentally that people's health and well-being is only worth consideration if they're cis.

Otherwise, trans people wouldn't have to suffer to protect the 1% who regret the treatment.
A picture of a trolley problem, where on the side-track a long row of people are laying tied to the track, while a person is standing next to the forward track with nobody tied down to it.

Title: Trans healthcare trolley problem
Text reads: An unknown number of trans people have been tied to one of the train tracks, while a runaway trolley is set to roll down the empty track, saving all the trans people. However, that guy over there might voluntarily walk onto the train track. Do you pull the lever, sacrificing the trans people to protect that one guy from possibly making a mistake?

If we held all medical treatments to the same standards as trans healthcare, nobody would receive any kind of medical treatment. Even the highest reported regret rate for trans healthcare is incredibly low, lower than basically every other form of treatment.

"The Cass Review, lacking expertise and compromised by implicit stigma and misinformation, does not give credible evidence‐based guidance. We are gravely concerned about its impact on the wellbeing of trans and gender‐diverse people."

Day 6. 'Pulse' (2001, dir. Kiyoshi Kurosawa)

A strange apocalyptic techno-horror about loneliness. A haunting slow burn. Some might find the sound design overbearing but I loved it. This film is outstanding in basically every way. Necessary watching for J-horror fans. Surprisingly prescient.

I have been in awe at how often I'm seeing the R-word used again. It seemed to have mostly dropped out of common use for a while, there, but it's being used so casually and aggressively again.

Horror movie every day, day 5. 'Ju-On: The Grudge 2' (2003, Takashi Shimizu).

Sometimes silly but frequently frightening, and when it is, it goes hard. Suffers from the same structural issues as the others. If it was more willing to break the formula, it might have been great. As it is, it's fine.

Blankets do not create heat. You do. You are your own heater. You just suck at it. You're a heater that needs dlc to actually make itself warm.
