I feel like one of the problems with telling people to “believe women” is that it assumes the folks in need of telling already possess a baseline belief that women are people

Help your neighbors and get a Josh pep talk! 💜⬇️
With the Trump administration cutting off SNAP benefits, I think it's really time to pull together. I made a little donation to City Harvest, and if you donate to any food bank and tell me what your small problem is, I'll give you a pep talk in Monday's newsletter! (Send me your receipt too!)

Hi my wonderful #uglydogs & friends. I mentioned a few weeks ago that Bella and Moneypenny both need surgery. I lost my jobs in the DOGE cuts back in April and am currently unable to afford the care they need. Any help would be SO appreciated. I hate seeing my babies in pain. gofund.me/bfe99ebd2

May I suggest The Beatles? As a way of escaping into something else for a bit? Even better if you read from Ian Leslie’s wonderful JOHN & PAUL: A Love Story in Songs while listening. I feel like an exposed nerve, and this book and these songs are a balm.
Also, the cookies (pictured) are helping.

Should I buy a half frame camera? It’s pink and costs less than 30 bucks.

Richard writes so beautifully and precisely about films and just being human.
I was so inspired by his review of CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, I made art of Elio and Oliver enclosed in a terrarium and sent it to him. (Because I’m a huge dork.)
I hate this push to get rid of critics. I love critics!

A neat thing happened last week, and this was the result-
Actual real-life Martin Scorsese holding and amused by mugs that I made. With his face on them.
I will never be over this. ☺️

Raven is good and kind and I wish I had more to help with. Pitch in with me?
#UglyDogs their debt is $50,000, this ask is really too modest. Can we get Raven, Kieran and Dad what they need to save their home? We’ve done great in a day and a half, let’s keep this going at least a few more paydays for people.
I know everyone is struggling but I need help. Due to my loss of income, dad & I are at risk of losing the house from debt. Any help/reskeet you can give me to hold onto this house until we're better situated to sell it vs losing it would be greatly appreciated.

Our Huckleberry! 💔
Sad news: Val Kilmer has died at 65. In the 1980s and 1990s--Top Secret, Heat, Tombstone, The Doors, really all the way through Kiss Kiss Bang Bang--he was so often an interesting and surprising studio leading man: An oddball with the face of a heartthrob. His best work is very worth revisiting.

I’m glad everyone is noticing what a damn fine actor Noah Wyle is. Last time he reminded me how affecting he can be —in 2019’s The Red Line—it seemed like I was the only one watching.

Not much time left to leave a comment on how harmful it would be to hand copyrighted works over to the AI losers…
I just left a comment on this page saying that this measure will be bad for US tax revenue and exports. I’m trying to think about something. They’ll actually listen to.
Folks, they have less than 1k comments so far. Posts arguing about which way to hang toilet paper have more comments in facebook groups. If you are in any way involved in art: writing, music, acting, film MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD

A reminder that if you’re using AI to write your novel or memoir or whatever it is you’re trying to develop, you’re absolutely doing it wrong and missing the point entirely of what it means to make art and tend to and honor your creative self.
