The earth is now experiencing the 6th major mass extinction of species. This time caused by us - humanity. Due to our immense numbers, and vast consumption of energy and resources. Maybe, just maybe, we can reduce the damage.
The most optimistic scenarios hope to get the global temperature back to about where it is now, in maybe 75 years. After being a lot hotter for many years. But that depends on immense electrification, + a vast amount of carbon removal (which is unlikely). climateanalytics.org/press-releas...

This is such an interesting article. If only humanity understood all this stuff, and if only its leaders were capable of acting appropriately, with that knowledge.
Sadly, we will just keep on as we are, till it is too late.

I keep thinking about the guy who's been recording insect population in a remote area of Costa Rica for 40 years, documenting their collapse. The jungle still looks lush, but he points out that little is getting pollinated. Once the plants die it will become a desert.
But we still haven't realised.
