When I’m not pregnant, and I bring up pain issues in pregnancy, doctors and lay people say “well there are options if there pain issues very severe.” When I am pregnant, no real help. I got shingles while pregnant- nothing but tylenol, but also “not too much”

I really agree that AI discussion is sucking a lot of oxygen out of the room right now! It is hard to shake the feeling that not dwelling on it (which is my general approach) is somehow irresponsible or avoidant. But I am certainly happier!

Great observation. Almost every conversation is about the positives of having kids, supporting people who want kids but are facing challenges having them, the importance of abortion where "needed." But so little about how and why we choose to have kids, how many, balance w/other things in life, etc

This is a great post about the access frictions around sound/noise in classroom spaces.

I struggle with this one as a deaf person. I try to incorporate reading discussions, but I can't participate. I try to enable group learning activities, but then the debriefs/presentations are not accessible to me.

Session "Special topics: Neurodiversity" at #TheGradingConference:

@sarahesilverman.bsky.social making the point that #AltGrading *can* provide a "tolerance for error" that is often needed when neurodivergent students are trying to communicate with neurotypical instructors or vice versa.

As an independent faculty developer, I have mainly been working with institutions so far, but have noticed a lot of interest in individualized support as well. If you are interested and would like to explore using PD funds, I'd be happy to help with that too

As part of my independent faculty development practice, I'm offering a new way to work with me. This could be a great fit if you're looking for personalized support, (especially related to neurodiversity & accessibility), w/monthly events and office hours
